Angela (she/her) has a dedication to our architectural heritage and an interest in the intersection between historic preservation, sustainability, and the built environment. The combination of these interests is the core of her approach to architecture and the foundation of her career.
Angela is a principal at MacDonald & Mack Architects. She was elevated to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows in 2026. She received the AIA Young Architect Award at both the state (MN) and national levels in 2016 and 2018 respectively.

She fulfills the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards Professional Qualifications for Historic Architecture, Architecture, and Architectural History.

FUN FACT
When Angela worked at the Weisman Art Museum, she was the namesake and first recipient of the Angie Goes The Extra Mile Award for customer service beyond the call of duty. The award has since been given to others, and has taken on the more generic name of the Wammy.

Todd (he/him) is a Principal at MacDonald & Mack Architects in Minneapolis where he has built a distinguished career as a preservation architect and national advocate for Modernist design. With expertise spanning construction methods from the 19th century through the mid-20th century, Todd has led award-winning preservation and rehabilitation projects across Minnesota and beyond. His interests extend beyond traditional preservation by integrating sustainability strategies into historic buildings, Todd has championed geothermal systems, energy modeling, and green building practices as compatible with and supportive of sensitive historic preservation. He has taught architectural preservation courses at the University of Minnesota's College of Design since 2004, educating students who have gone on to become leaders in the field.

Fitting his interests, Todd and his family live in a mid-century house.

Stuart (he/him) co-founded MacDonald & Mack in 1976 and has served as principal-in-charge for preservation, restoration, adaptive reuse, residential design, and HABS/HAER survey projects of all sizes. He is particularly knowledgeable in the area of American building technology.
Stuart previously served as the director of a Pennsylvania-based architectural preservation firm, and from 1971 to 1973, as historical architect with the National Park Service at Independence National Historical Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he participated in the restoration of the State House of the Province of Pennsylvania (Independence Hall), the Second Bank of the United States, and Benjamin Franklin Court.
Stu co-founded MacDonald & Mack in 1976 and is principal emeritus.

Bob (he/him) began his career at the National Park Service in Washington, DC, where he was the author of Preservation Briefs #1 and #2, and was also influential in writing the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. In 1976, he moved back to Minnesota and co-founded MacDonald & Mack Architects.
Bob is also an Adjunct Professor Emeritus in the College of Design at the University of Minnesota, where for over 20 years, he taught the graduate-level series of classes in historic preservation. Bob's teaching has taken him overseas, leading student groups to study in Scotland’s Orkney Islands and Baku, Azerbaijan. He has also served on the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission and as board member of the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota, AIA Minnesota, and AIA Minneapolis.
For his achievements in design, education, and community advocacy, Bob was elevated to the College of Fellows of both the American Institute of Architects and the Association for Preservation Technology. His projects have received Honor Awards from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and AIA Minnesota. In 2016, Bob received the AIA Minnesota Gold Medal, the state’s highest honor for an individual architect.

rchitect and Preservation Consultant, Madelyn completed her M.S. in Architecture: Heritage Conservation & Preservation, with a thesis about the role of community involvement in the designation of neighborhood heritage, and her Master of Architecture, exploring the possibilities of sustainable adaptive reuse of historic industrial structures for her final project. In addition to her work at MacDonald & Mack, Madelyn served on the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission and currently sits on the Historic Resources Advisory Committee for the Minnesota Historical Society.

Originally from Boston, Madelyn had never lived more than 100 miles from the ocean before moving to Minneapolis. This includes her two study abroad trips: San Salvador for four weeks and Venice for eight weeks.

Casie is an architect and preservation consultant with expertise in historic tax credit rehabilitation projects and navigating the complexities of compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards. She partners closely with clients and project teams to guide projects from concept through construction. With a passion for historic materials, craftsmanship, and traditional construction methods, Casie approaches each project with personal care and a genuine appreciation for its story and significance.

Designer and Preservation Consultant, Amy is particularly interested in the preservation of Modernism. She is a board member and past board president of Docomomo US/MN. Amy is also an architectural drawing instructor at the University of Minnesota.

Originally from Indiana, Amy played basketball in college and loves any sport she is good at. Amy now lives in the Kingfield neighborhood of Minneapolis; she likes to get on her bike to explore the Twin Cities, but also enjoys any visits home to see family.

Chief Financial Officer and Partner, Lisa (she/her) oversees all financial operations at MacDonald & Mack Architects, including financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic planning. Prior to joining MacDonald & Mack Architects, Lisa comes from a background in business and finance, having worked as a financial advisor for over 15 years helping clients reach their retirement goals.
FUN FACT
When not at the office, Lisa can usually be found on a volleyball or pickleball court. An avid reader and yoga enthusiast, she balances her love of competition with a passion for travel and new adventures. Her two daughters are her favorite companions for both and Banff National Park is next on their list!

Stu and Bob started MacDonald & Mack in their respective homes, working at their dining room tables and taking breaks to play with their infant daughters. As the firm has grown and leadership has changed, we’ve maintained a people-first culture.
We reject the idea that high stress and late nights at the office are the norm. Our workplace is one of flexible schedules, collaboration at all levels, and unflinching support for colleagues.

We also support our employees in their volunteering, including paid time for this important work. This has included coordinating architecture camps for school-aged kids, sitting on nonprofit boards, serving on the Minneapolis and Saint Paul Heritage Preservation Commissions, and sharing our expertise by providing continuing education to our peers. Our staff is active on AIA MN committees including the LGBTQ+ meet events, the Historic Resources Knowledge Community, the Youth in Architecture Committee, the Continuing Education Committee, and Leadership Forum.
